Had been a tough week for both my colleague and me, especially these few days. It is an excessive amount of phone calls, with alot of last minute stuff happening unexpectedly. At first, i thought that this time round, things will be alot better. As per planned, there is to be 2 labs having new PCs. But unfortunately, under budget constraint, there will only be one lab having new PCs. And the other is filled up with existing computers, which led to alot of the PCs having problems.
Troubleshooting is part of mine work, but well, thinking of it. Seems like the same situation that i got myself into 2 years back, where i got labs filled with old PCs to troubleshoot, only difference is that i got a colleague to help out with. Sorry to say, this time round, i was unable to help as much as i can. Too many things uninformed, this and that not working, plus alot of phone calls. Running out of battery often these few days, with my charger disappearing on me. Till this date, the lifts are not working yet. So each time the phone rang, there's alot of floor climbing to be done. i believe i have climbed at least 18-20 storeys per day, for these few days. Argh....
As u might have known, i don't react well to surprises. Imagine my chagrin when i heard from the ST engineer, that they changed the IP addresses. This means that we gotta add the network printers again, for 60-80+ laptops. Which might happen any time of the day. Somehow or rather, it seems that it's like a conspiracy, all happening when you can least afford it. Hopefully we managed to settle the printing problem today, cutting down one of the reasons of the phone calls.
i definitely need a break...
p.s. As a present, i got a book from one of school's HOD. "The purpose driven life - Rick Warren". Saw that book a year back in Aussie, but kinda slipped my mind to look for it. Really strange how the book appeared in my hands after a year.
