Reflections...

Well. It's had definitely been an rather eventful year. With alot of happenings stuff, realisations and maybe some resolutions. This will be a lengthy post, as per a year's worth.

The year which i gave up alot of unnecessary things, the year which i have grown up matured?, and shouldered more responsibility. Realised alot of things also. Is the year which i have 'officially' turned into a uncle, unfortunately definitely not willingly, that is(all thanks to my cute niece).

It's to my realisation that i started to shoulder the family burden, early this year. Paying $500 monthly(which may not be a huge sum to alot of u.), is a burden that i am ill-advised to bear. I was having the "time of my life", having holidays when i can afford it, and paying off old debts as and when i can. Till this date, i still owe people like a few Ks(woe to me indeed)...Some dumb not so clever things that i have done during the years when i was younger, things that i do have the slightest tingle of regret when i think back about it(although i wouldn't hesitate to do it again, even if i have the chance to undo it). i believe, by making my share of mistakes, that's the best way to learn things.

The responsibility of having so much things to pay off, made me realise my sense of mortality. One song which explains it..."i thought I'd live forever, but now i'm not so sure." Living everyday, is kinda of a gift, although everyone tends to take it for granted. Once we get used to it, that's when we forget what's really important to us.

Have been fretting about my finances state for a couple of months, when i first started to do up my finance budgeting. Staying true to the budget, really took discipline(which i sorely lacked in the first place). Sometimes i wonder, maybe i did it wrongly? Had tracked almost all expenses, cutting down even on transport trips(No more trips to town on Fridays), making work and home, the only two places that i go. Well, cutting down costs on transport does affect the meet ups that i go to, from frequent to almost non-existent. Meet ups have this tendency to be kinda costly, very tough on my $10 budget per day(this is inclusive of 3 2 meals, no need for so many meals anyway).

Had my name change after/before my niece came into this world(Cant remember exactly which). Never managed to get used to the new name, in the first place. “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” - Shakespeare. It's supposed to mean courage and perseverance. And when i had to settle the HDB matters, i felt that there's no point in making the change officially yet. At that point in time, the HDB matters are more important than just a name change, and i don't really want to have anything dragging along. It's during this that i realised that i have this 'impatient' streak, as in wanting to get my things done a.s.a.p. i will think about it endlessly, even to the extent of losing sleep. Not something good, especially for the mind.

Started to read up more on books regarding economics. Stumbled upon them, sometime back. The views that they reveal is quite fascinating, some which i never thought about before. As it is, it made me do some thinking about the reasoning they represented, which i think is quite true. How the world works, is definitely very interesting.

With this, i wrap up the year 2006.
