It is actually quite some time since i last changed a job, namely staying with the previous one for 3 long years. Of which, i don't really remember the years going by though. Too many things to worry about, during that period of time. i do remember the shifting of the school, changing of 2 technical support staff(1 yr each, i think) there. Other than that, is the monthly cash payment of the flat, which still rankles me to no end till this day.(I think, during that time, my younger sis is still studying. So i didn't think so much of the future. It's until one fine day which i realise that paying so much cash on a long term basis is seriously not a very good idea, since it's a 1x year loan. I did wanted to change my job, after she started her work. I didn't plan so far ahead also, at that point of time.)
First day of work! is seriously new to me. Waking up so very the early, just to realise that i fell asleep without realising it. By the time i came to my senses, what i already have left, is ard 50 mins to an hour before i was due to appear. After dressing myself up in clothes that i kept for 3+ years. So, in desperation, i did what everybody does in my situation. I took a cab. It's like, my gawd, damn expensive.
It have been ages since i last took a cab, for any reason. And as the cab goes, i glances out of the corner of my eye at the meter and wonder, how many gantries will i be passing through. The last count of which is 2, which means i gotta pay $1.50 extra for the whole journey. The total sum, which comes up to a grand total of $20+. I didn't know that, there's a "peak hour surcharge involved" nowadays, which is another 35% addtional. I think it's pretty obvious that i'll rather forgo more sleep, then spend extras on travelling, eh?
One consolation is, i manage to reach the place, just few mins before 8.30am. Although i do suspect, in the future, how am i going to reach there so early in the morning? If i work backwards, it means that i need to 'somehow' reach orchard ard 8am? Minus off the travelling time of around an hour(approx), that means i gotta reach the mrt by 7am? Dressing up and making my way to the mrt will cut me off another 30 mins. So, i'll need to wake up by 6.30am(latest). Just for a day's work. And to think that i got a year's worth ahead to look forward to. =/ At least i still can have a stress-free weekend at home, i think.
p.s. Coming weekend, gotta meet up my ex-colleague of mine, i think some kind of party. Think it's best that i show face, i do need to keep my cordial relationship with people i knew nonetheless.
