Feb 9. The morning view of batam after a good night rest at the hotel we finally found, after running around in batam for the whole afternoon on Feb 8. Not many a stars though. i believe it's just a 3 starred one ba. Mai hiam liao, especially when most of the hotels around the area are booked, and unless u want to try in a motel(A tempting thought, but i have to forgo that, in return for a good night sleep).
It seems like batam itself, is currently undergoing a series of renovation. As in having some re-laying of the 'road', something akin to the 'road' path in KL's chinatown. As i went there without my charger, and without a full charge of the batteries, my HTC touch have ran out of juice, shortly after i took the above 2 pictures. Argh. Well,I don't have overseas roaming anyway and it's good to not know the time also, since it's supposingly a free and easy holiday trip.
One thing for sure, i realised that the place is more or less like rural m'sia, where the shopping centres are more widely spread out. Rather than consolidated around a shopping district. So gotta be prepared to take cabs here and there. Although walking is an alternative, but not a very tempting one when u dunno the place. From what i can see (by the number of shops being closed), there should be a rather huge no of Indonesian Chinese in batam. Update in a while...=)
